RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
RE is led by Miss Jones at Bowker Vale.
At Bowker Vale Primary School we follow the Manchester agreed Syllabus for RE. Children are encouraged to reflect on their own beliefs and respect the beliefs of others.
Through our RE lessons we aim to :
·Prepare the children and young people of Manchester for active citizenship in a diverse and rapidly changing world, exploring some aspects of British values in relation to religions and world views.
·Develop knowledge and skills and explain own beliefs and opinions.
·Provide children with ability and opportunity to disagree respectfully!
At Bowker Vale we welcome visitors from all faiths to help the children in their learning.
We have had visitors from the Jewish community Cheetham Hill , Mr Singh from Central Gurdwara, Manchester and Vicar Eddie from St Andrews Church Blackley.
We also enjoy visiting different places of worship. Some of the places classes have visitied recently include St Andrew's Church Blackley,
The Central Gurdwara Manchester, the Khuzra Mosque Cheetham Hill and the Synagogue on Middleton Road.
We enjoy a cross curricular approach in our RE lessons often incorporating Music, Drama and Art. We made masks for the
Jewish Festival of Purim and cards to celebrate the Hindu Festival of Holi.
