Charities We Support
At Bowker Vale, we have supported many different charities over the years. It is always difficult for a school to choose from the many worthy causes and not to appear biased in any way.
As a Rights Respecting school, we do look at lots of 'World Education' to see what is going on for different communities, and our Bowker Leaders try to find the right balance between local charities (our own school and Manchester), national charities (the UK) and international charities (the world).

December 2022
Francis House Children's Hospice We learned in assembly about children with life limiting conditions at Francis House and wanted to raise money to help them and their families £160 raised
February 2022 and 2023
Wear yellow to support Mental Health Day. The money raised went to Place2Be, a children's mental health charity who provide mental health support at Bowker Vale through one-to-one and group counselling. £412 raised in total
October 2021 and 2022
The Trussell Trust Foodbank For harvest, we donated tinned food and toiletries for the people in need in Manchester.

December 2021
Instead of sending Christmas Cards, we put a donation in to Save the Children and wore our Christmas jumpers instead! Save the Children support children in the UK to learn, grow and become who they want be. £217.66 raised
November 2021
Children in Need are the BBC's charity and their mission is to help ensure every child in the UK is safe, happy, secure and has the opportunities they need to reach their potential. We had a non uniform day to raise money for this charity. £421.28 raised |
February 2023
We held a non uniform day to raise money for those in need, after learning about the terrible devastation caused by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria £245 raised
March 2022
Non uniform for Red Nose Day is an annual fundraising campaign with the mission to end child poverty by funding programs that keep children safe, healthy, educated and empowered. £333 raised

Non uniform for the Red Cross who support humanitarian aid across the world as well as the current crisis in Ukraine.
